Need to turn a .bmp file into SVG? Citrus converts BMP to SVG right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
Citrus traces your image into flat-colored vector shapes, so the SVG scales to any size without blurring.
This works best for logos, icons, flat illustrations and drawings. Photos become posterized, with fewer colors and visible shapes.
Use the Quality slider to choose how many colors are traced: higher quality means more colors and more detail, but a bigger file.
You can crop and resize the image first, and Citrus keeps transparent backgrounds.
How to convert BMP to SVG
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon).
Drop your .bmp file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel.
Choose SVG as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution.
Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
BMP: BMP is an old, uncompressed Windows bitmap format. It is simple and universal but very large.
SVG: SVG is a vector image format used for logos, icons and illustrations. It stays sharp at any size, but many apps and social sites need a PNG or JPG.
