Convert AAC to AIFF on Mac, offline
Need to turn a .aac file into AIFF? Citrus converts AAC to AIFF right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
What to expect
AAC is already lossy, so converting to AIFF will not bring back quality. Use it for compatibility or editing, expect a bigger file. Choose the sample rate (44.1, 48, 88.2, 96 kHz and more) and bit depth (16 or 24) in Citrus.
How to convert AAC to AIFF
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon). Drop your .aac file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel. Choose AIFF as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution. Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
AAC: AAC is a lossy audio codec that gives good quality at small sizes.
AIFF: AIFF is Apple's uncompressed audio format, equivalent to WAV in quality.
