Convert AVIF to JPG on Mac, offline
Need to turn a .avif file into JPG? Citrus converts AVIF to JPG right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
What to expect
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become a solid background. Both formats are lossy, so each conversion adds a little compression loss. Convert once from the original and keep quality high. Resize by percent or pixels, crop, and choose whether to keep EXIF and location data, all before converting.
How to convert AVIF to JPG
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon). Drop your .avif file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel. Choose JPG as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution. Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
AVIF: AVIF is a modern, very efficient image format used on the web. Support in desktop editing apps is still patchy.
JPG: JPG (JPEG) is the most compatible photo format in the world. It opens everywhere, but it is lossy and has no transparency.
