Convert FLAC to AAC on Mac, offline
Need to turn a .flac file into AAC? Citrus converts FLAC to AAC right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
What to expect
AAC is lossy, so you trade a little audio data for a much smaller file. Choose a bitrate in Citrus; 256 kbps is a good default for music.
How to convert FLAC to AAC
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon). Drop your .flac file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel. Choose AAC as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution. Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
FLAC: FLAC is lossless compressed audio. It is about half the size of WAV with identical sound.
AAC: AAC is a lossy audio codec that gives good quality at small sizes.
