Convert PNG to BMP on Mac, offline
Need to turn a .png file into BMP? Citrus converts PNG to BMP right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
What to expect
BMP has no transparency, so transparent areas become a solid background. Both formats are lossless, so pixels are preserved. Resize by percent or pixels, crop, and choose whether to keep EXIF and location data, all before converting.
How to convert PNG to BMP
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon). Drop your .png file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel. Choose BMP as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution. Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
PNG: PNG is a lossless image format with transparency. It is ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics, but photos become large files.
BMP: BMP is an old, uncompressed Windows bitmap format. It is simple and universal but very large.
