Convert WAV to FLAC on Mac, offline
Need to turn a .wav file into FLAC? Citrus converts WAV to FLAC right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
What to expect
Both WAV and FLAC are lossless, so the audio is identical after conversion. Only the container and file size change. Choose the sample rate (44.1, 48, 88.2, 96 kHz and more) and bit depth (16 or 24) in Citrus.
How to convert WAV to FLAC
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon). Drop your .wav file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel. Choose FLAC as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution. Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
WAV: WAV is uncompressed audio and the standard for recording and editing. Files are large.
FLAC: FLAC is lossless compressed audio. It is about half the size of WAV with identical sound.
