Citrus Get Citrus
Convert MOV to GIF on Mac, offline
Need to turn a .mov file into GIF? Citrus converts MOV to GIF right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
What to expect
Citrus turns the clip into an animated GIF. GIFs get large quickly, so use a short clip and a lower resolution.
How to convert MOV to GIF
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon). Drop your .mov file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel. Choose GIF as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution. Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
MOV: MOV is Apple's QuickTime video container, produced by iPhones, Macs and many cameras.
GIF: GIF is limited to 256 colors per frame. It is great for simple graphics and short loops, not for photos.
