Convert MP4 to GIF on Mac, offline
Need to turn a .mp4 file into GIF? Citrus converts MP4 to GIF right on your Mac, offline, using Apple's own engines. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters for client work, private photos and contracts.
What to expect
Citrus turns the clip into an animated GIF. GIFs get large quickly, so use a short clip and a lower resolution.
How to convert MP4 to GIF
Open Citrus from the menu bar (the citrus slice icon). Drop your .mp4 file, or several, into the window. You can also drag a file onto the menu bar icon to open the quick wheel. Choose GIF as the output format and adjust options if you want, like size, quality or resolution. Press Convert. Your new files appear next to the originals, and the originals are never changed.
About the formats
MP4: MP4 is the most compatible video format for web, phones, TVs and social media.
GIF: GIF is limited to 256 colors per frame. It is great for simple graphics and short loops, not for photos.
